Police Checks and Member Protection Policy

As you would all be aware by now, AIDKA has very nearly completed its Member Protection Policy (MPP). Part of our requirements in this policy is to have people with key positions within each club to have a Police clearance (or equivalent) as was mentioned in the last Council meeting Minutes.

Club President, Club Secretary, Club Licence Secretary, Club Nomination Secretary, Chief Steward or Steward, Treasurer and anyone else who would have access to your member database.

CAN CLUBS PLEASE START GETTING THESE CHECKS DONE ASAP. THERE ARE SOME CHANGES COMING UP IN GOVERNMENT AND THESE CHECKS MAY SOON NOT BE FREE (SA CLUBS)

Please see attached the relevant information for each state and the links to start the process. Once the checks have been mailed back to each applicant, I only need to site your Certificate and record the necessary details. If you wish to email me a copy, you may and then I will delete your email. You can also wait until you see me again in person to show me. By law I am not allowed to keep a copy of your Certificate on file.

SA Clubs – National Police Check Application (PD267) is required to be filled out and have your 100 point verification checks done. Once this is done, originals must be mailed to me (PO Box 1108 Loxton SA 5333) so I can fill out the Volunteer Authority (VOAN) and then I’ll forward on to SA Police. There is no charge using the VOAN process.

WA Clubs – you are required to have a Working with Children Check. I believe this will cost each applicant $11. AIDKA will subsidise up to 10 people per club. If you feel you need more than 10 people to have this check, please contact me.

NT Clubs – you are required to have an Ochre card and this costs $5. AIDKA will subsidise up to 10 people per club. If you feel you need more than 10 people to have this check, please contact me.

QLD Clubs – you are required to have a Blue Card and I believe there is no application fee. A lot of people already have Police checks (or equivalent) in place.

Most checks last for 3 years and I (AIDKA Secretary) am happy for you to show me a copy of your current check if applicable.
